Mark Twain Tonight! is the legendary one-man show created and performed by Hal Holbrook, in which the actor transformed himself into celebrated American author Mark Twain. First developed in the 1950s, the production blended storytelling, satire, comedy, and social commentary through dramatic readings from Twain’s writings. 

Holbrook constantly evolved the performance over the decades, making each show feel spontaneous and alive rather than strictly scripted. His portrayal became so iconic that he performed the role for more than 60 years, earning both a Tony Award and an Emmy nomination along the way.
